-
- Thank you for choosing OctaMED V1.00. First I should note that this file
- contains some important information, so please read this file carefully
- before doing anything else.
-
- OctaMED is a music editor, which is originally designed for making music
- for programs (demos, games etc..), but it works well as a stand-alone
- music program too. OctaMED V1.00 is the 8-channel version of MED V3.10
- music editor.
-
- Here are the contents of the complete OctaMED V1.00 distribution disk:
-
- Demos (dir) Some demo songs (try these first)
- Docs (dir) Documents (remember to read)
- SynthSounds(dir) Some synthetic sounds
- Programmers (dir) Stuff for programmers
- MEDPlayerLibrary (dir) medplayer.library stuff
- MODPlayer (dir) linked module player/loader stuff
- Examples (dir) some examples in Assembler & C
- OctaMED1.00 The music editor
- OctaMEDPlayer The player program
- Read Me This file..
-
- If you're (still?) using AmigaDOS 1.3 (or before), the icons look quite
- ugly. Anyway, they look nice on 2.0.
-
- First you should make a backup copy of your original OctaMED disk, and save
- the original in the safe place.
-
- And now, very important text is coming. Don't close your eyes : ^)(^ !!!!!

- If you want to contact me (the author of OctaMED) you can write to:
-
- Teijo Kinnunen
- Oksantie 19

- FINLAND
-
- Please remember to indicate the version number of OctaMED you are using!!
-
- I'm sorry to write this, but I may not be able to answer all letters any
- more. After MED V2.10 I've started to receive so much mail, that I simply have
- not enough time to do that. Still, I try to answer to as many as possible.
- If you absolutely want me to answer, please indicate that. Also, if you don't
- need an answer, please indicate that too. Anyway, please be prepared for
- VERY VERY long response times...

- Finally some technical info:
-
- OctaMED is written in C and assembler. The C compiler used is SAS/C V5.10 and
- the assembler is HiSoft's Devpac 2. The graphics was drawn using
- DeluxePaint III and converted using the ILBMDUMP-utility. The text editor
- I'm using is the CygnusEd Professional 2.
- OctaMED V1.00 needs Kickstart 1.2 or later, is compatible with AmigaDOS 2.0,
- runs on any Amiga, and multitasks correctly (even in 8-channel mode).
-
- More finally, thanks to the following persons (no special order!!):
-
- Ray Burt-Frost (Amiganuts United), Lauri Tarkkala, Frederic Bouquerel,
- Bryan Ross, and (of course...) ZAP!!
-
- Special thanks to Chris Palmer and Paul Austin for ß-testing etc..
-
- Also, thanks to everybody who has sent me letters, disks, ideas, money etc!!

-
- HOW DO I PRINT OUT THE DOCS FROM THIS DISK??
-
- If the printer.driver in this disks printer drivers drawer and this disks
- system-configuration matches your printer set-up,then,whilst you have the
- ascii file reader displayed on the screen,(you are using it NOW to read this
- file),you can press the help key and intructions will appear, giving full
- details on how to print the files.
-
- If you follow these instructions and nothing happens,it is very likely that
- your printer.driver does NOT match the set-up that is on this disk.
-
- In this case,it is easier,(If you have two drives),to do the following:
-
- Load up your WB disk and insert THIS disk in df1:,then through the CLI,type:
- DF1:C/PMORE
-
- This will load the ascii textfile reading prog and you can then, via the
- program, load up the text files that are in this disks DOCS drawer, once you
- have loaded a file, simply press the help key for printing instructions, you
- will then find that your own printer.device etc, that is on your WB disk, will
- be used for printing.
-
- If you only have one drive,(tut tut),then you will have to copy to this disk,
- (on a backup of course),the printer.device that you are using, from your WB
- disk,(it's in the devs/printers drawer),also the system-configuration,(it's
- in the devs/drawer),making sure that you copy them to the correct drawers,of
- course.
-
- "HOW THE DO I COPY THOSE ACROSS TO THE OctaMED DISK?,I'VE ONLY ONE DRIVE!"
-
- Simple, copy the commands cd & copy into ram:
- Then copy your devs/system-configuration into ram:
- copy your devs/printers/printer.driver(name),into ram:
-
- cd to ram:
-
- insert this disk into your drive.
-
- Issue the command: Copy system-configuration to df0:devs
- copy (name of printer.driver) to df0:devs/printers
-
- Once they have been copied onto this disk, you will then be able to print out
- the doc files, the next time you boot it from df0:
